IGLOO SECURITY, INC. announces ‘2022 Security Threat and Technology Prospect Report’

- A flexible working environment, supply chain, metaverse, etc., the attack surface for attackers to target will become wider
- Security capabilities such as convergence security monitoring, SOAR, attack surface management, and AI will be required

[December 2, 2021] IGLOO Security, INC. (CEO Lee Deuk-Choon, www.igloosec.com/en) has released the ‘2022 Security Threat & Technology Prospect Report’, which contains major prospects for security threats in 2022. Based on the predictions of IGLOO Security’s security analysis team, this report, written for the 10th time this year, presents major cybersecurity threats that will occur in 2022 and security technologies and methodologies to respond to them.

IGLOO Security’s security analysis team predicts that in 2022, the “attack surface” that attackers can target will become wider. First, it is predicted that cyber attacks that exploit social issues such as COVID-19 and elections and international events will continue, and that attacks that dig into loopholes in the flexible working environment will increase even more. In addition, it is predicted that supply chain attacks by state-supported hacking groups will increase, and information trading and distribution via the ‘Dark Web’ will become more active. In addition, it is expected that security threats surrounding the ‘Metaverse’ platform, where digitized user information is widely used, will occur.

In the face of these security threats, the importance of security technologies and methodologies that can secure visibility into all corporate/organizational infrastructure and assets and speed up threat response is expected to rise. IGLOO Security’s security analysis team analyzes the importance of ‘convergence security monitoring system’ that encompasses the IT and OT environments and ‘Security Orchestration Automation and Response (SOAR)’ that can improve security monitoring efficiency will increase. Also, the importance of ‘Attack Surface Management (ASM)’, which detects threat factors from the perspective of infrastructure, data, software, and users, will increase. In addition, it is predicted that the importance of introducing a technology that minimizes the adverse functions of AI and increases the safety of data use will also be emphasized.

Mihee Kim, Team leader of IGLOO Security’s security analysis team, said, “As digital transformation and supply chain reorganization are rapidly taking place around the world, and the convergence of various heterogeneous industries and ICT (Information and Communication Technology) accelerates, the attack surface for attackers will become wider. In keeping with the advent of the ‘Next Normal’ era, we will have to apply security technologies and methodologies to gain broad visibility into dispersed corporate/organizational infrastructure and assets and to respond rapidly to threats.”
