IGLOO Corporation Completes Demonstration of Cybersecurity System on Hyundai L & G Shipping's Specialized Vessels
…Earned the title of the first maritime SIEM application case that meets UR E27

- IGLOO Corporation is the first company in Korea to successfully demonstrate SIEM for ships that meet UR E27 regulations… It will become a best practice for newbuilding ship security

[May 02, 2024] IGLOO Corporation has completed the demonstration of a cybersecurity system for ships that meets the Cyber Resilience Regulation (UR E27) for the first time in Korea, demonstrating its ship security technology in the OT field. IGLOO Corporation, an AI-based security operation and analysis platform company, announced that it has built and demonstrated a security information and event management (SIEM) solution for ships on a special vessel of Hyundai LNG Shipping, a global LNG transportation leader.

IGLOO Corporation deployed its UR E27-compliant maritime SIEM, SPiDER OT for Maritime, on Hyundai LNG carrier HLS Bilbao, which set sail in February. UR E27 is a common set of rules developed by the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) to improve the cyber resilience of ships and is mandatory for all newbuilds contracted after July 2024. HLS Bilbao is a new 100,000-ton LNG carrier with state-of-the-art technology, and the deployment and operationalization of this solution is likely to set the standard for the security of future vessels.

Through this demonstration, IGLOO Corporation has proven that its maritime-specific security system can proactively respond to advanced security threats targeting smart ships and operators. Through the installation of a maritime SIEM solution that enables broad visibility into the ship's security environment, it has also enhanced the ease of collecting and monitoring integrated security logs of each network. This demonstration is expected to serve as a best practice for the design of newbuilding vessels with advanced security systems.

"With the increasing number of advanced security threats targeting smart ships and shipowners, it is increasingly important to have a security system optimized for the maritime environment. Through our collaboration with Hyundai L&G Shipping, it is meaningful that we have successfully built and demonstrated the first SIEM solution for ships that meets UR E27 regulations in Korea. We will continue to focus on securing ship security technology and advancing our solutions in the OT field."
